StormFisher Hydrogen's Major Investment in Power-to-X Plant in North America
Key Ideas
  • StormFisher Hydrogen partners with MAN Energy Solutions for a 200 MW Power-to-X plant in North America to produce green hydrogen and e-methane.
  • The facility will convert renewable electricity into green hydrogen via electrolysis, then into e-methane for integration into natural gas infrastructure.
  • MAN Energy Solutions will validate a quality booster to enhance methane purity in the e-methane output, supporting decarbonization efforts.
  • The project aims to increase e-fuel production capacity in North America and boost America's leadership in the energy sector.
StormFisher Hydrogen has signed a partnership with MAN Energy Solutions to develop a 200 MW Power-to-X plant in North America. The plant will focus on producing green hydrogen and e-methane using a local biogenic CO₂ source. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate around 2.5 million MMBtu of e-methane annually, equivalent to 50,000 metric tons of LNG. This initiative aligns with StormFisher Hydrogen's plans to bolster e-fuel production capacity in North America and enhance American leadership in the energy sector. The plant will leverage renewable electricity, primarily from wind and solar sources, to produce green hydrogen through electrolysis, which will then be converted into e-methane meeting North American pipeline standards. MAN Energy Solutions will also validate a quality booster to improve methane purity in the e-methane output, aiding in the decarbonization process. Overall, the project aims to provide a cost-effective and scalable solution for decarbonization while integrating seamlessly into existing natural gas infrastructure.
