Elsewedy Electric Group, based in Egypt, has been awarded a major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for Hungary's largest combined cycle power plant (CCPP) in decades. This milestone project, located in Visonta, will be developed in partnership with local companies to modernize Hungary's energy infrastructure. Scheduled for completion by 2028, the plant will be Hungary's first hydrogen-ready facility, capable of incorporating up to 30% hydrogen into its fuel mix, thus contributing to the country's transition to cleaner energy sources. The contract signing was attended by high-ranking officials, including Hungary's Energy Minister, Egypt's Ambassador to Hungary, and Elsewedy Electric's President and CEO, highlighting the project's significance in providing long-term energy solutions worldwide. With a focus on sustainability, the project aligns with Elsewedy Electric's global expansion strategy. By collaborating with MVM Matra Energia Zrt. and local partners, the company aims to enhance Hungary's energy security through the adoption of high-efficiency technologies and green hydrogen integration.
