Essar Energy Transition (EET) has acquired Thornton Science Park in Cheshire as part of its strategic plan to establish one of Europe's prominent energy transition hubs. The acquisition, aimed at supporting the UK's energy transition goals, will see Thornton Science Park serving as the UK headquarters for EET. This acquisition is in line with EET's commitment to advancing the country's low carbon future and contributing to the government's decarbonisation efforts. By acquiring Thornton Science Park, EET aims to develop a comprehensive energy transition hub, including transitioning Stanlow Manufacturing Complex into the UK's first low carbon refinery and establishing large-scale, low carbon hydrogen production hubs. Additionally, EET plans to develop Europe's first hydrogen-fueled combined heat and power plant at the site. The acquisition also includes Stanlow Terminals, which is involved in developing infrastructure for biofuels and new energies.
