Thyssenkrupp Nucera AG & Co. KGaA and approximately twenty other European companies have joined forces to establish the H2Med Southwestern Hydrogen Corridor. This alliance, involving firms from France, Germany, Portugal, and Spain, aims to create a connected European hydrogen market. The main objective is to integrate hydrogen production, storage, and consumption across different regions, with the ambition to hasten the hydrogen deployment by the early 2030s. This effort also supports the decarbonization of industries. The initiative is designed to build a strong hydrogen value chain spanning from the Iberian Peninsula to Northwestern Europe. The initiative is in line with the European Union's targets under the European Green Deal, advocating for a carbon-neutral Europe powered by sustainable hydrogen. Dr. Werner Ponikwar, the CEO of Thyssenkrupp Nucera, stressed the necessity of expanding infrastructure to facilitate the growth of the hydrogen economy. The coalition, which includes major companies, was officially introduced at an event in Madrid, where key government representatives were present. This collaboration signifies a step towards a more interconnected and sustainable hydrogen ecosystem in Europe.
