Hamburg is set to host three leading energy trade fairs in September and October 2024, turning the city into an international forum for energy transition and sustainability. The fairs, including Wind Energy Hamburg, Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe, and the SMM maritime trade fair, will attract around 100,000 participants from science, business, politics, and society to discuss pressing issues like achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and addressing climate change. The Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe, specifically focusing on renewable hydrogen, will gather over 15,000 delegates and 700 exhibitors to explore clean energy solutions. Alongside the fairs, the inaugural Hamburg Sustainability Conference will bring together decision-makers to set political frameworks for achieving the SDGs. Hamburg's role as a catalyst for global energy transition is evident in its emphasis on climate research, green technology start-ups, and being a hub for green hydrogen initiatives. The city's commitment to sustainability is further exemplified by its initiatives to promote renewable energy systems, innovative transport solutions, and digital tools to track SDG progress.
