Hyting's Hydrogen Heat Generator Receives European Market Approval
Key Ideas
- Hyting's 10kW heat generator, certified under GAR, approved for use in the European market after testing by Kiwa, a reputable TIC company.
- Founder Tim Hannig emphasizes the safety and market-readiness of the technology, highlighting clean and efficient hydrogen-fueled heating with no emissions.
- Prototypes of the 10-50kW units are undergoing testing, with customer trials scheduled in Germany soon, showcasing the company's progress in the hydrogen heating sector.
- Amid positive developments, the IEEFA report cautions against relying on hydrogen for home heating, citing risks and unimpressive benefits compared to natural gas blending.
Hyting, a German hydrogen heating company, has received approval for its 10kW heat generator to be used in the European market. The certification was granted under the Gas Appliance Regulation (GAR) after the product underwent testing by Kiwa, an independent testing and certification company. Tim Hannig, the Founder and Managing Director of Hyting, expressed confidence in the technology's safety and market readiness, attributing the choice of Kiwa for certification to the company's excellent reputation in the heating sector. Hyting's heat generators, ranging from 10-50kW, offer clean and efficient forced-air heating powered by hydrogen, boasting no emissions of CO2, NOx, or particulate matter. Current prototypes are in testing phases, with plans for customer trials in Germany in the near future. Despite these advancements, a recent report by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) cautioned hydrogen producers against relying on hydrogen for home heating, citing concerns about risks and the perceived lack of substantial benefits compared to blending hydrogen with natural gas.
