Hyundai Motor Group has unveiled its plans to establish a waste-to-hydrogen ecosystem in West Java Province, Indonesia, during the Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit in Jakarta. The initiative, developed in partnership with key stakeholders including Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, aims to create an on-site hydrogen refueling station using low-carbon hydrogen produced from biogas at the Sarimukti landfill. The project, supported by a consortium of leading Korean organizations, focuses on sustainable hydrogen solutions and aligns with Indonesia's National Hydrogen and Ammonia Roadmap. Additionally, Hyundai Motor Group's collaboration with Pertamina addresses waste management challenges and promotes local safety measures in the region. The Group's broader strategy of leveraging hydrogen for sustainable solutions beyond mobility was also highlighted at CES 2024, where they presented their vision for a hydrogen-powered, software-driven transformation.
