- Metrans aims to provide climate-friendly transport solutions by combining eco-friendly rail and road transport, complementing its existing fleet of electric trucks.
- HHLA and partner companies are exploring hydrogen-powered equipment in port logistics as part of comprehensive decarbonization efforts to achieve full climate neutrality by 2040.
Metrans, in collaboration with Mobility & Innovation Production s.r.o (MIP), is testing the first hydrogen-powered truck in Slovakia for operational container transport. The truck, presented at the Slovakia Ring, offers a range of 600 km fueled with renewable hydrogen. Metrans' CEO, Peter Kiss, expressed excitement about the opportunity to offer climate-friendly transport solutions, combining rail and road options. The truck, built on the Ford F-Max platform with the support of Ford, integrates advanced technologies like the REFIRE fuel cell and Dana Sumo motor. Metrans aims to expand its zero-emission vehicle fleet, which already includes electric trucks, to provide fully climate-neutral logistics. The company is part of the Clean Port & Logistics Cluster, collaborating on hydrogen-powered equipment in port logistics. HHLA's extensive decarbonization efforts include electric container gantry cranes and tractor units, working towards full climate neutrality by 2040. The hydrogen truck testing signifies a significant step in decarbonizing European logistics chains, with Metrans focusing on offering eco-friendly transport solutions across its network.
