Provaris Energy, Norwegian Hydrogen, and Uniper Global Commodities have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop hydrogen supply chains from Norway and potential Nordic sites to North-Western Europe. The collaboration aims to explore the production, transportation, and storage of RFNBO-compliant hydrogen, crucial for German industrial sectors' energy security and decarbonization goals. The partnership highlights the importance of a diverse portfolio of supply options for integration into national hydrogen infrastructure to support the German economy's competitiveness and decarbonization targets. Provaris' H2Neo carriers and H2Leo storage barges will play a key role in transporting and storing the hydrogen effectively. The CEOs of Provaris Energy and Norwegian Hydrogen expressed their enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the positive outcomes expected from the partnership. They aim to leverage their joint efforts to accelerate the development of new hydrogen export sites across the Nordic region, strategically located for optimal connectivity and reliable power supply. In late 2023, Provaris and Uniper had already initiated discussions on evaluating the supply of green hydrogen to Germany using compressed hydrogen carriers. This recent agreement expands on their previous collaboration, focusing on enhancing hydrogen supply chains and promoting energy efficiency and cost competitiveness in the European market.
