Norwegian companies North Ammonia and Höegh Evi have signed an agreement to explore a clean ammonia supply chain from Norway to Europe. The collaboration focuses on investigating the potential for supplying hydrogen to European industrial users through the production of green ammonia in Norway. This partnership aims to leverage Norway's renewable energy resources to produce clean ammonia, which serves as a key carrier for efficient hydrogen transportation over long distances. Höegh Evi is involved in developing floating import terminals for hydrogen, including a project with the French port of Port-La Nouvelle. Simultaneously, North Ammonia is working on establishing a green ammonia production facility at Fjord Base, which is expected to boost its position as a maritime hub. The overall goal of this collaboration is to support the shift to cleaner energy sources in Europe, particularly in hard-to-abate industries like steel, chemicals, and heavy transport, by connecting Norwegian renewable resources with the growing market demand for clean hydrogen.
