UK-based energy consultancy Penspen has been awarded a contract to assess the feasibility of incorporating hydrogen blending on a major European gas pipeline. The contract, with Tran Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP), aims to evaluate the introduction of hydrogen blends to the existing gas infrastructure of the 877km TAP pipeline, crucial for energy supply diversification in Europe. Penspen, with expertise in strategic transportation infrastructure, highlights the significance of hydrogen enablement for long-term regional decarbonisation. The project manager emphasized that supporting hydrogen introduction in pipelines would stimulate hydrogen projects in south eastern Europe and open up diverse hydrogen utilization opportunities.
