The Port of Tarragona is making significant strides in becoming a major player in the European hydrogen import market. Recently, the port participated in the H2Med 2025 – Hydrogen & Ammonia Mediterranean Summit in Cairo, where it established itself as a 'reference port' for hydrogen import in Europe. The infrastructure delegation from Tarragona had fruitful interactions during the summit, making 15 key contacts and gaining valuable insights into the potential of Egypt and North Africa in hydrogen production. The strategic geographical location of the port, according to Jordi Anglès, the sales manager for liquid bulk, is a significant advantage that enables the capture of hydrogen flows from regions like North and West Africa and the Middle East. This positions the Port of Tarragona favorably in the market. The summit also shed light on the hydrogen demands of the metropolitan region and how the port can address these demands through its production and supply capabilities, further solidifying its position as a 'reference port' for hydrogen import in Europe.
