Toyota Tsusho Europe (TTESA) and Messer Group have collaborated to establish a joint venture named SympH2ony in Bad Soden, Germany. The purpose of this JV is to produce and supply green hydrogen for fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) in Europe. SympH2ony is described as a 'one-stop-shop' for fleets aiming to transition to zero-emission, offering hydrogen mobility solutions for various fleet operations, including buses, trucks, taxis, and port cargo handling equipment. The JV plans to provide service packages that cover the entire fleet operation chain, with the option of on-site hydrogen production. Tim Evison, the Senior Vice-President Clean Hydrogen at Messer and CEO of the new JV, emphasized the tailored services to meet individual customer needs and the calculable total operating costs based on kilometres driven by the fleet. Kenji Yamanaka, TTESA's Head of Next Mobility, highlighted the initiative to help European fleet operators achieve their zero-emission mobility goals by moving away from fossil fuel systems. This joint venture signifies a positive step towards sustainability and green hydrogen adoption in the European market.
