The Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (TSOUA) and prominent European companies and organizations have joined hands to establish the 'Ukraine-EU Hydrogen Corridor'. This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signifies a crucial step towards integrating Ukraine into European value chains. The signatories, including TSOUA, Stadtwerke München, Wien Energie, Open Grid Europe, and several other renowned entities, are dedicated to supporting the full end-to-end hydrogen value chain initiative. The primary objective of this collaborative effort is to foster the development of renewable power and hydrogen production within Ukraine. The produced hydrogen will be transported through pipelines across Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany for distribution and utilization after 2030. Notably, the existing pipeline infrastructure will be repurposed to accommodate the transportation of hydrogen, signifying a sustainable approach to energy transportation. Dmytro Lyppa, the CEO of TSOUA, has emphasized the importance of conducting a technical feasibility study over the next 12-18 months to repurpose sections of the pipeline network effectively. This study will be conducted in close collaboration with other European Transmission System Operators involved in the initiative. The collaboration between these entities underscores a strong commitment to sustainability, European energy integration, and technological innovation.
