AM Green, a part of Greenko Group, has partnered with John Cockerill to place India's largest electrolyzer order for a 1.3 GW advanced pressurized alkaline electrolyzer in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The plant, set to commence production in 2026, aims to significantly contribute to India's green hydrogen goals. This project includes the establishment of a major electrolyzer manufacturing facility and is a strategic step towards achieving green ammonia capacity targets by 2030. The collaboration between AM Green and John Cockerill is pivotal in developing a green hydrogen ecosystem in India, with plans to create a substantial electrolyzer manufacturing plant in Kakinada. This initiative aligns with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission to boost green hydrogen production. Additionally, AM Green aims to scale up its green ammonia production to 5 million tonnes per annum by 2030, supporting net-zero targets in India and OECD markets. The output from this project will significantly contribute to India's green hydrogen production goals and Europe's green hydrogen imports target. The Kakinada facility has received certification for producing green ammonia meeting EU RFNBO requirements. AM Green has secured off-take agreements with key industry players for utilizing green hydrogen in various applications. Both companies emphasize the importance of this collaboration in advancing India's green hydrogen objectives and decarbonization efforts globally across industries such as refining, shipping, fertilizers, power generation, and chemicals. John Cockerill's CEO highlights the role of advanced electrolysis technology and renewable energy solutions in promoting the adoption of green hydrogen. Through joint venture Rely, John Cockerill will provide comprehensive EPsCm services for the Kakinada facility. The collaboration also signifies John Cockerill's commitment to establishing local green hydrogen ecosystems globally, supported by public initiatives in India, the USA, Belgium, and France for setting up electrolyzer production sites and technology development.
