Amara Raja Infra, a subsidiary of the Amara Raja Group, has achieved a major milestone by establishing India's first green hydrogen fuelling station in Leh, Ladakh. This initiative, undertaken for NTPC Ltd, is aimed at promoting emission-free transport in and around Leh, contributing to India's efforts in the green mobility sector. The project, which was recently inaugurated by Union Power Minister Manohar Lal, signifies a significant leap forward in sustainable transportation solutions. The hydrogen fuelling station, designed and executed by Amara Raja Infra, has the capacity to produce 80kg of GH2 per day. It is expected to support NTPC in operationalising five hydrogen fuel cell buses in the region, facilitating eco-friendly public transportation. Despite facing extreme conditions at a height of 3,400 meters above sea level with temperature variations from -25°C to 30°C, the project was completed successfully within two years. This accomplishment demonstrates India's commitment to embracing green hydrogen technology and lays the groundwork for future large-scale hydrogen mobility and storage projects as part of the National Hydrogen Energy Mission. The project is not only a technological achievement but also a testament to Amara Raja Infra's expertise in offering end-to-end services encompassing design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning. The completion of this pioneering project reinforces ARIPL's position as a key player in the green hydrogen infrastructure space and sets a precedent for the deployment of similar initiatives nationwide.
