The Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, introduced the Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform during the Bharat Climate Forum 2025 in New Delhi. This initiative aims to bolster India's cleantech value chains, focusing on sectors like solar, wind, hydrogen, and battery storage. While unveiling the platform, Minister Goyal raised concerns about Product Linked Incentives and subsidies, suggesting that they can hinder the long-term growth of the clean energy sector. India's ambitious target of setting up 500 Gigawatt of clean energy sources by 2030 was discussed, with praise for the country's progress in exceeding NDC targets and achieving 200 Gigawatt by 2022. Goyal highlighted the government's approach of speed, scale, and skill in the renewable energy program, attributing successes to initiatives like transparent auctions and promoting equal competition.
