Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India (SGHIPL) have joined forces through a joint venture agreement to drive renewable energy and green hydrogen projects in India. This strategic partnership between the two entities is geared towards supporting India's energy transition and development objectives. The collaboration aims to explore various initiatives, including green hydrogen and ammonia production, as well as projects related to emissions reduction and other emerging green fuel technologies. By combining Sembcorp's expertise in renewables with BPCL's knowledge in the petroleum sector, the joint venture seeks to contribute to India's ambitious climate goals and BPCL's own vision of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. BPCL is committed to building a robust renewable energy portfolio, with a specific target of 10 GW to meet future energy demands and transform into a Net Zero Energy Company by 2040. On the other hand, Sembcorp is dedicated to utilizing green hydrogen and ammonia as essential pathways for decarbonization. With a strong presence of 6GW of renewables assets in India, Sembcorp is well-equipped to facilitate large-scale, cost-effective green hydrogen production.
