Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, launched the Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform during the Bharat Climate Forum 2025 in New Delhi. The initiative focuses on enhancing India's cleantech value chains in sectors such as solar, wind, hydrogen, and battery storage. Goyal stressed the need for the clean energy sector to move towards self-sustainability, stating that while the Product Linked Incentives (PLIs) can kickstart the sector, long-term growth must be independent of government support.
The platform aims to facilitate collaboration, innovation, and increased manufacturing scale among Indian firms, with a vision to position India as a global leader in sustainability. Minister Goyal highlighted India's achievements in renewable energy, surpassing targets ahead of schedule and aiming to set up 500 Gigawatt of clean energy sources by 2030. He credited the success to the government's focus on speed, scale, and skill in renewable energy programs, emphasizing transparency, fair auctions, and competition. India's progress in renewable energy and climate change initiatives has been commendable, with the country standing ahead of its commitments to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement.
