Evonik has entered into a partnership with Dutch company VoltH2 to enhance green hydrogen production at the Delfzijl chemical park in the Netherlands. VoltH2 will construct a 50 MW electrolyzer near Evonik’s hydrogen peroxide plant, with operations expected to start by the end of 2027. This initiative marks the first green hydrogen water electrolysis plant at an industrial scale in the North of the Netherlands. Evonik will transition a substantial part of its hydrogen sourcing to this electrolyzer, supporting its sustainability goals. While their remaining hydrogen needs will be met by conventional methods for now, the collaboration is set to ensure an uninterrupted hydrogen supply until green hydrogen reaches full capacity. Additionally, VoltH2 will establish a tube trailer filling station on Evonik’s premises to cater to its other clients. The partnership highlights the commitment of both companies to driving industry towards greener practices and reducing carbon emissions. The joint efforts aim to showcase the benefits of sustainable electricity and green hydrogen utilization in a large-scale industrial setting.
