General Motors and Hyundai Motor Company have entered into an agreement to explore future collaboration across various strategic areas, including vehicles, engines, and clean energy technologies like electric vehicles (EVs) and hydrogen-powered vehicles. The partnership aims to investigate joint development and production of passenger and commercial vehicles, encompassing internal combustion engines, electric vehicles, and hydrogen-powered vehicles. Additionally, the two companies will explore opportunities for combined sourcing in areas such as battery raw materials and steel. The agreement was signed by Hyundai Motor Group's executive chairman Euisun Chung and GM's Chair and CEO Mary Barra. Barra highlighted the potential of the partnership to enhance vehicle development efficiency through greater scale and structured capital allocation. GM had a manufacturing presence in India, which it later consolidated, and Hyundai took over one of its plants, aiming to commence production soon.
