Gensol Engineering Ltd, in partnership with Matrix Gas & Renewables Ltd, has secured a contract to manufacture 237 MW of hydrogen electrolysers under a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme in India. This contract includes a previously awarded 63 MW from the Solar Energy Corporation of India tender, with a total PLI incentive of ₹450 crore. Despite this positive development, Gensol Engineering's shares dropped slightly on the stock market. The consortium's success in securing this capacity is a significant step towards India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to produce 5 MMT of green hydrogen annually by 2030. The collaboration between Gensol and Matrix will focus on green derivatives like green steel and green ammonia, contributing to India's energy transition and decarbonisation efforts. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's PLI scheme plays a crucial role in supporting India's clean energy goals, with a budget allocation of ₹19,744 crores. The National Green Hydrogen Mission is part of India's strategy for self-reliance in clean energy and global leadership in Green Hydrogen technology.
