In a significant development, a meeting was convened in Kargil between Chairman/CEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon and NHPC officers to deliberate on the pioneering pilot project for Green Hydrogen Mobility. The project, aimed at sustainable development, will be located in Trespone village on 35 kanals of land previously designated for tourism. NHPC outlined plans to introduce two hydrogen buses at an estimated cost of 20 crores, with a commitment to oversee the project for an initial 3-year period. Following this, reports will be presented to the Government of India for potential extension. CEC Kargil emphasized community involvement in the project, tasking EC Aga Syed Mujtaba with gathering local input. Dr. Akhoon lauded NHPC's Corporate Social Responsibility endeavors in Kargil and expressed confidence in the collaborative efforts of LAHDC and NHPC to ensure the successful implementation of the green hydrogen mobility initiative in the region.
