Hyderabad: Major Green Ammonia Project to Drive Carbon-Free Energy Supply
Key Ideas
  • Gentari and AM Green Ammonia India signed a significant power purchase agreement for 650 MW of carbon-free energy for green ammonia production.
  • Gentari will establish a massive 2400 MWp renewable energy capacity in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, including solar and wind projects.
  • AMG Ammonia aims to be a key player in green ammonia production, targeting five million tonnes per year by 2030 to support India and OECD net zero goals.
  • The project will also contribute significantly to India and Europe's green hydrogen targets, showcasing a sustainable energy transition model.
In Hyderabad, AM Green Ammonia India Pvt Ltd finalized a firm power purchase agreement with Gentari's subsidiary, Gentari Renewables India Castor One Pvt Ltd. Gentari will provide 650 MW of round-the-clock, carbon-free power to fuel AMG Ammonia's green ammonia facilities. This initiative is part of AMG Ammonia's ambitious plan to develop one of the world's largest green ammonia platforms, with a target of producing five million tonnes annually by 2030. To achieve this, Gentari will set up 2400 MWp of renewable energy capacity in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, integrating solar and wind projects. Additionally, 350 MW/2100 MWh energy storage will be utilized to ensure consistent power supply to AMG Ammonia's facilities. This collaboration not only propels the green ammonia industry forward but also aligns with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and Europe's green hydrogen import targets. By leveraging renewable energy sources and innovative storage solutions, the project highlights a significant step towards a sustainable and greener future.
