Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) has unveiled plans for a new hydrogen innovation centre in Chennai, India. This groundbreaking ceremony, announced at the Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave 2024, marks a significant milestone for HMIL's commitment to hydrogen technology. In collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IITM) and Guidance Tamil Nadu, supported by the state government, HMIL will invest Rs 180 crore in the development of the dedicated facility at IIT Madras Thaiyur campus. The 65,000 sq. ft. centre will align with HMIL's global vision of 'Progress for Humanity', focusing on advancing hydrogen technology for mass-mobility solutions. The partnership aims to accelerate the hydrogen ecosystem, promote alternate fuels, reduce the carbon footprint, and cultivate a skilled workforce for the emerging hydrogen economy. This initiative not only signifies a strategic investment in sustainability and technology but also positions Tamil Nadu as a hub for innovation and economic development in the realm of hydrogen technology.
