Hyundai Motor Group has announced plans to collaborate with Pertamina and West Java Province in Indonesia to establish a waste-to-hydrogen ecosystem by 2027. The initiative, unveiled during the Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit in Jakarta, involves launching an on-site hydrogen refueling station utilizing Pertamina's CNG infrastructure. The project aims to produce low-carbon hydrogen from biogas at the Sarimukti landfill near Bandung, addressing urgent waste management challenges and enhancing safety in the region. The partnership with Pertamina extends to various aspects of the project, including land provision for refueling stations, hydrogen production and transport, and vehicle utilization. Hyundai's CSR commitment is evident through collaborations with Good Neighbors to improve local access to essential resources and Sejin G&E to secure the landfill and extract biogas for hydrogen production. By supporting the development of a comprehensive hydrogen ecosystem, Hyundai is showcasing its dedication to sustainability and aligning with Indonesia's National Hydrogen and Ammonia Roadmap. The project also emphasizes the Group's efforts to bring Korea's advanced hydrogen policies and technologies to Indonesia, further supported by Indonesian government ministries. Overall, the collaboration highlights a positive step towards promoting sustainable hydrogen solutions and addressing environmental challenges in Indonesia.
