Spanish renewable power company Iberdrola and Britain’s BP have announced a partnership to build a 25-megawatt green hydrogen plant in Castellon, Spain. The project, which will receive a 15-million-euro EU subsidy, is intended to assist BP in decreasing the carbon footprint of its oil refinery situated in Castellon. Both companies will equally finance the project, although the specific cost remains undisclosed. Green hydrogen production involves using electricity from renewable sources like wind and solar to separate hydrogen from water through electrolysis.
