Despite developed countries pledging only $300 billion annually by 2035, India urged its BRICS partners to enhance climate financing to meet global sustainability targets. The Indian delegation, led by Amandeep Garg, highlighted the importance of collaboration to achieve the 2030 Climate Agenda, stressing fair carbon budget allocation and sustainability for developing countries. India emphasized the importance of a well-rounded climate action approach, including adaptation and mitigation measures, while reaffirming the commitment to energy security and the mix of energy sources as per BRICS agreements. India also showcased the Green Grids Initiative and the One Sun, One World, One Grid project under the International Solar Alliance as crucial for global renewable energy integration. The country advocated for a just transition that considers the economic realities of each nation, ensuring adequate means of implementation in finance, technology, and capacity-building to facilitate a fair and equitable energy transition. India emphasized the need for BRICS nations to strengthen engagements in multilateral forums, advocating for developing economies and a balanced transition.
