Pralhad Joshi, the Union Minister of New & Renewable Energy, along with Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, has disclosed India's ambition to lead in global Green Hydrogen production through the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The country has made remarkable progress by allocating capacity for electrolyser manufacturing, producing Green Hydrogen, and launching tenders for more production capacities. Noteworthy achievements include the awarding of 3000 MW capacity for electrolyser manufacturing, 4,12,000 TPA for Green Hydrogen production, and tenders for 4,50,000 TPA of Green Hydrogen capacity along with 7,39,000 TPA of Green Ammonia production. To support research in the Green Hydrogen ecosystem, the government has initiated an R&D scheme with an outlay of Rs. 400 crores. Furthermore, pilot projects are expected to kick off in industries like steel, shipping, and mobility, underscoring India's commitment to embracing sustainable energy solutions.
