The Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, and Slovenian Minister for Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr. Igor Papič, recently met in Delhi to finalize the Programme of Cooperation (PoC) for 2024–2029. This initiative aims to deepen ties between India and Slovenia, fostering networks among scientists of both nations. The meeting emphasized expanding joint research in areas such as hydrogen technologies, sustainable innovation, health, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and smart cities. During the discussion, Dr. Singh highlighted the success of existing collaborations, noting the implementation of over 20 joint projects in various fields. The focus on hydrogen technologies was particularly emphasized, as it is crucial for achieving global energy sustainability. The partnership between India and Slovenia, established in 1995, has evolved through programs like the Joint Working Group on Scientific and Technological Cooperation. The Ministers discussed plans for a new joint call for research projects that will concentrate on mutually agreed areas to drive innovation and strengthen academic and industrial connections. The upcoming Joint Committee meeting in Slovenia next year is expected to further enhance collaborative breakthroughs. By renewing their commitment, both countries aim to set a benchmark for international cooperation in science and technology, contributing to global progress in critical fields.
