India is set to launch its first hydrogen-powered train on the Jind-Sonipat route in Haryana by March 31, 2025. This initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions and shift towards cleaner energy sources in the transportation sector. The train will boast impressive specifications, including a top speed of 110 km/h and a capacity to accommodate 2,638 passengers, making it an efficient mode of public transit. With a 1,200 HP engine, it will hold the title of the highest-capacity hydrogen-powered train globally. Unlike diesel locomotives, the hydrogen train will only emit water vapor, thus contributing to a reduction in pollution. The adoption of hydrogen rail technology will place India alongside countries like Germany, China, and the UK, highlighting the nation's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and environmental consciousness in the realm of public transportation.
