In a recent media interaction, Toshihiro Suzuki, the president of Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), revealed that India will be the key manufacturing hub for Suzuki's global EV exports, starting with compact cars. The company plans to leverage India's manufacturing scale to export vehicles to Europe and Japan. Maruti Suzuki's e-Vitara, the first EV 4-wheeler, will be unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, highlighting India's growing presence in the EV market. Despite a global slowdown in EV sales, Suzuki remains optimistic about strong EV sales in India, where EV sales rose by 20% in 2024. Suzuki also emphasized the importance of small cars in India, noting the transition of a large population from two-wheelers to four-wheelers, creating a demand for affordable small cars. The company aims to regain market share in India by focusing on SUVs, introducing new models, and exploring alternative fuel options like hybrids, CNG, and hydrogen for future market expansion. Suzuki's strategy includes utilizing India's export potential for both EVs and other vehicle models, envisioning India as a key export hub for their products.
