India is gearing up to host the first-ever International Solar Festival in September 2024, affirming its commitment to renewable energy and sustainability. The country is focusing on transitioning public infrastructure to solar energy and investing in renewable energy infrastructure, including solar parks, wind farms, and electrolysers for Green Hydrogen production. The event, organized by the International Solar Alliance in New Delhi, aims to showcase India's leadership in the global renewable energy sector. With a target of 500 GW of non-fossil energy by 2030, with a significant portion from solar energy, India is positioning itself as a key player in driving the renewable energy transition. The festival will bring together international participants, including Western countries and African nations, as well as institutions like the Asian Development Bank, United Nations, and World Bank, to support renewable energy initiatives financially. By creating a platform for discussions on reducing fossil fuel dependency and empowering green energy globally, the festival contributes to the ongoing dialogue on climate change mitigation. The event precedes COP29 in Baku and aims to align solarisation efforts with global climate change objectives.
