India and the US have jointly initiated the Renewable Energy Technology Action Platform (RETAP) in August 2023 with the goal of creating actionable roadmaps for various sustainable energy sources including hydrogen. The collaboration involves research and development, pilot projects, demonstrations, and fostering incubation, investment, and industry networks. Both nations have welcomed the partnership in establishing the National Centre for Hydrogen Safety in India, showing a shared commitment to advancing hydrogen technologies. Additionally, they have expressed mutual interest in participating in the 2nd International Conference on Green Hydrogen scheduled for September 2024. The focus extends to modernizing the power distribution sector to ensure round-the-clock reliable power supply to consumers. Initiatives such as smart metering deployment, inverter-based resources, power market reforms, system inertia estimation, and cybersecurity enhancements are highlighted as crucial steps towards achieving a resilient and sustainable energy ecosystem.
