Indian company Hygenco Green Energies has achieved a renewable fuel of non-biological origin (RFNBO) pre-certification from Bureau Veritas South Asia Region for its green hydrogen and ammonia solutions. This pre-certification falls under the European Commission-recognized CertifHy scheme, which facilitates the availability of green or low-carbon hydrogen to end-users in the European Union (EU). Hygenco aims to provide green ammonia solutions to the EU market, contributing to the global transition towards sustainable and low-carbon energy sources. Hygenco is dedicated to advancing green hydrogen and ammonia technologies to support the decarbonization of industries globally. The company is actively working on developing multiple green hydrogen plants in India and has ambitious plans to invest $2.5 billion in green hydrogen and ammonia projects over the next three years. In a strategic move, Hygenco has partnered with Swiss Ameropa to potentially supply green ammonia from its project in Odisha to European and Asian markets. The first phase of the project aims to produce 600 tonnes per day of ammonia, with commercial operations scheduled to begin in 2027. Subsequently, the second phase is projected to double the production by early 2028, leading to a full production capacity of 1.1 million tonnes per annum by 2030. This significant step by Hygenco not only showcases its commitment to driving the adoption of green energy solutions but also highlights its proactive approach towards international collaborations for sustainability and decarbonization initiatives.
