Indian Oil has handed over a state-of-the-art green hydrogen fuel cell bus to the Indian Navy for trials and performance testing in New Delhi, as part of the government’s green initiative. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Indian Oil and the Indian Navy to pioneer the deployment of hydrogen fuel cell technology for heavy-duty e-mobility. The event, held at Nau Sena Bhavan in the national capital, was attended by key officials from both organizations. The aim of the project is to evaluate the performance of fuel-cell electric buses in the challenging climatic conditions of the Delhi NCR region, focusing on the impact of local fuel and air quality on the fuel-cell systems' performance. It will also assess the effectiveness, longevity, and operational reliability of fuel cell buses for public fleet utilization. Currently, Indian Oil operates 15 fuel cell buses in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat, with a total mileage of 300,000 kilometers, aiming to promote hydrogen and fuel cell technology for heavy-duty e-mobility. This collaboration positions the Indian Navy as a pioneer in assessing this technology, showcasing Indian Oil's commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions.
