Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is stepping towards sustainability with the commissioning of a green hydrogen plant in Panipat, Haryana, within two years. The plant, with a production capacity of 10,000 tons per annum, is a significant move towards supporting India's green energy mission and working towards a sustainable and carbon-neutral future. Arvinder Singh Sahney, Chairman of IOC, announced this development during the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos, Switzerland. Alongside the green hydrogen initiative, IOC is rapidly expanding its city gas distribution (CGD) sector, aiming to provide more connections to households, increase the number of compressed natural gas (CNG) stations, and enhance the supply of piped natural gas (PNG). Despite challenges such as American sanctions on Russia, IOC remains optimistic about its operations and India's energy security, citing multiple sources to meet the country's energy needs. This initiative by Indian Oil Corporation reinforces its role in India's transition towards a cleaner and greener energy landscape.
