Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, announced the establishment of a dedicated task force to drive India towards achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. This ambitious initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Power, aims to coordinate efforts across the renewable energy sector. The minister stressed the need to add 288 GW of renewable energy within six years, highlighting the substantial investment requirement of Rs 42 lakh crore. The event in Bhubaneswar shed light on Odisha's renewable energy potential, especially in solar and green hydrogen, leveraging its advantageous geographical position. Minister Joshi also unveiled plans for hackathons to spur innovation in renewable technologies, along with the creation of a new Joint Centre of Excellence with the Ministry of Power. The government intends to bolster domestic solar module manufacturing capabilities and expedite the PM Surya Ghar Yojana program to facilitate solar power adoption.
