The India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) has lauded India's Budget 2025 as a transformative vision for the energy sector, emphasizing the need for production-linked incentives and GST cuts on batteries, charging infrastructure, and electrolyzers to boost renewables. With over 180 companies from the battery, e-mobility, and hydrogen industries as its members, IESA expressed gratitude to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for considering their recommendations. The alliance sees the budgetary announcements as progressive steps towards making India a global hub for clean energy manufacturing and R&D. Post-budget, IESA highlighted challenges faced by the industry and proposed a dedicated incentive program for ACC components manufacturers to strengthen the domestic supply chain. Suggestions were made to reduce GST on batteries and electrolyzers to 5% to lower operational costs and drive growth in the sector.
