India's First Green Hydrogen Fuelling Station in Leh by Amara Raja Infra
Key Ideas
- Amara Raja Infra completes India's first green hydrogen fuelling station in Leh, Ladakh, with a capacity to produce 80kg per day.
- NTPC Ltd will operationalise five hydrogen fuel cell buses in the region, enabling emission-free transport.
- The project by Amara Raja Group sets the foundation for large-scale green hydrogen mobility and storage projects in India.
- The completion of the project reinforces Amara Raja Infra's EPC expertise in the green hydrogen infrastructure space.
Amara Raja Infra, a part of the Amara Raja Group, has successfully established India's inaugural green hydrogen fuelling station in Leh, Ladakh, for NTPC Ltd. This station, capable of producing 80kg of green hydrogen daily, stands at an altitude of 3,400 meters, enduring temperatures from -25°Celsius to 30°Celsius. It marks a significant step towards emission-free transport in the region as NTPC plans to introduce five hydrogen fuel cell buses. The project encompassed the entire process from design to commissioning and includes three years of operation and maintenance. Dwarakanadha Reddy, from ARIPL, expressed excitement about their venture into the green hydrogen infrastructure domain. The initiative by Amara Raja Group is expected to pave the way for broader green hydrogen mobility and storage projects under India's National Hydrogen Energy Mission, facilitating the study and deployment of more hydrogen fuelling stations nationwide.
