INOX Air Products (INOXAP) has commissioned India's first green hydrogen manufacturing plant at Asahi India Glass Limited’s (AIS) new float glass facility in Soniyana, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. This marks a significant step towards sustainable glass production in India. The plant, powered by solar energy, will produce up to 190 tons of green hydrogen annually through electrolysis, with an initial supply of 95 tons per annum to AIS, helping reduce carbon emissions. INOXAP's involvement in designing, engineering, and operating the plant ensures a continuous green hydrogen supply. A 20-year offtake agreement between AIS and INOXAP guarantees a stable green hydrogen supply, reinforcing AIS's commitment to sustainability. The initiative is projected to cut CO2 emissions by 1,250 metric tons per annum at the facility, promoting decarbonization. Leadership voices from both companies emphasize the importance of green hydrogen in India's energy transition and the goal of achieving a net-zero target by 2070. Rupinder Shelly, COO-Architectural Glass at Asahi India Glass Ltd, expressed pride in being the first in India to utilize green hydrogen in glass manufacturing. The project aligns with AIS's strategy to reduce its carbon footprint and meet power needs through renewable sources.
