India is witnessing a surge in Global Capability Centres (GCCs) focusing on renewable energy, with a significant emphasis on the energy sector, including the hydrogen energy sector. The country has become one of the leading destinations for organisations establishing GCCs, with cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, and Pune attracting energy industry leaders to drive innovation and process improvements in energy production and distribution. With over 30 energy sector GCCs spread across India, employing more than 20,000 people, the country's skilled workforce is playing a crucial role in modernising the global energy infrastructure. The renewable energy sector, particularly wind energy, is experiencing substantial growth, with wind energy capacity expected to reach 63 GW by 2030. Moreover, the hydrogen energy sector is also on the rise, with key talent clusters in Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Chennai specializing in hydrogen blending, storage solutions, and refinery operations. The EY report highlights a promising outlook for GCCs in India's energy sector, offering new entrants an opportunity to leverage the country's favorable business environment and skilled workforce for digital transformation and innovation. The market for GCCs in India has seen remarkable growth, with a market size of $64 billion and a projected increase to $110 billion by 2030, along with a rise in total employment to 2.8 million.
