In a significant move to bolster India's renewable energy sector, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, unveiled the 'Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform' during the Bharat Climate Forum 2025 in New Delhi. This platform is geared towards enhancing India's cleantech value chains, spanning solar, wind, hydrogen, and battery storage sectors. Goyal highlighted the need to move away from subsidies and Product Linked Incentives (PLIs) to foster sustainable growth, urging stakeholders to embrace innovative solutions for expanding manufacturing capacities within the country. The initiative also aims to facilitate collaboration, co-innovation, financing, and technology exchange among Indian companies. With a strong commitment to achieving 500 Gigawatts of clean energy capacity by 2030, India is making strides towards surpassing its obligations under the Paris Agreement. Goyal commended the state of Gujarat for its leadership in solar energy adoption and credited PM Modi's governance for promoting transparent and fair competition in the solar energy sector, making it more accessible to the masses.
