The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India has issued a Call for Proposals to establish Centers of Excellence (CoE) under the Research and Development Scheme of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The objective of this initiative is to foster innovation, sustainability, and energy independence through the development of Green Hydrogen technologies.
The key objectives of the CoEs include promoting innovation in Green Hydrogen technologies, enhancing India's energy independence, supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy, and fostering collaboration between industry, academia, and the government. The CoEs will serve as focal points for cutting-edge research, provide skill development for the workforce, disseminate knowledge, and encourage partnerships among various stakeholders.
The government has allocated Rs 100 crores for setting up these Centers of Excellence, emphasizing the importance of advancing sustainable energy solutions. Proposals from public and private entities, research institutions, and universities are invited to contribute to this mission.
The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched on 4th January 2023, with an outlay of Rs. 19,744 crores until FY 2029-30, aims to promote self-reliance through clean energy, inspire global clean energy transitions, decarbonize India's economy, reduce dependency on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technologies and markets.
The expected outcomes include significant reductions in carbon emissions, global leadership in Green Hydrogen technologies, and economic growth through the transition to sustainable and clean energy.
