INOX Air Products, the largest gases producer in India, has achieved a significant milestone with the commissioning of its first green hydrogen plant in Rajasthan. Located at Asahi India Glass Limited's new facility in Soniyana, Chittorgarh, the plant marks India's first utilization of green hydrogen in glass production. INOX partnered with AIS, a leading glass manufacturer, to supply green hydrogen for a 20-year period. The project, powered by solar energy and electrolysis, can produce up to 190 tons of green hydrogen annually, with a substantial portion allocated to AIS' float glass manufacturing to reduce CO2 emissions. This initiative not only promotes sustainable industrial practices but also supports India's shift towards a low-carbon economy. Siddharth Jain, the Managing Director of INOX Air Products, highlighted the environmental impact, emphasizing the reduction in CO2 emissions at AIS' facility. Rupinder Shelly, the COO of AIS, underlined the company's commitment to sustainability and the use of green energy sources for their Soniyana facility. The collaboration between INOX Air Products and AIS showcases a significant advancement in green hydrogen adoption in Indian industry, providing a model for reducing carbon emissions in energy-intensive sectors. The project's reliance on solar power for hydrogen production further underscores its environmental benefits and aligns with India's goals for a cleaner industrial future. This project stands as a model for other industries seeking to integrate green hydrogen into their operations, illustrating the potential of green hydrogen in India's energy transition.
