This investment aims to boost India’s green hydrogen ambitions. The project will leverage the expertise of Malaysia’s Petronas-backed Amplus Ganges Solar and Singapore’s Sembcorp Industries, along with Indian firms Acme and ReNew Energy. India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is setting up a green hydrogen and ammonia production hub at the VOC Port in Thoothukudi, an ideal location due to its infrastructure and port connectivity. The initiative supports India’s goal of becoming a global leader in green hydrogen production and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The move is in line with efforts to decrease carbon emissions. With abundant solar and wind resources, Tamil Nadu is well-positioned to capitalise on green hydrogen, which is produced using renewable energy sources.
