The Government of Karnataka has rolled out its transformative Clean Mobility Policy 2025-30 with a vision to attract ₹500 billion investments in the clean mobility sector by 2030. The policy aims to position Karnataka as a pioneering hub for clean mobility in Asia, emphasizing equitable and sustainable development through the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and hydrogen fuel cell technologies. Key features include regulatory exemptions for EVs, reimbursement of land conversion fees, and incentives for EV manufacturing, research & development, and fleet conversion. The establishment of clean mobility clusters across Gauribidanur, Dharwad, and Harohalli, coupled with capital subsidies for industries of varying scales, underscores the state's commitment to fostering innovation and industry growth. The policy also focuses on enhancing EV charging infrastructure by setting up charging stations along important highways and providing subsidies for fast charging, battery-swapping, and hydrogen refueling stations. With the increasing adoption of EVs in India, exemplified by the 27% year-over-year growth in EV sales in 2024, the policy's positive outlook towards clean transportation signifies a significant step towards a sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation ecosystem in Karnataka.
