Key Ideas
  • Matrix Gas secures a significant production-linked incentive from the Indian government to manufacture electrolysers for green hydrogen production.
  • The company plans to invest Rs 500 crore in the first phase to establish a 350MW electrolyser manufacturing capacity in Sanand, Gujarat.
  • By 2030, India aims to have a green hydrogen capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum, with Gujarat alone accounting for 3 MTPA.
  • Matrix Gas envisions scaling up its plant to 3GW by 2030 through additional investments, contributing to the national green hydrogen mission.
Matrix Gas and Renewables Ltd, led by CEO Chirag Kotecha, has received a substantial Rs 440 crore production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme from the Indian government to kickstart the manufacturing of electrolysers for green hydrogen production. The company is set to invest Rs 500 crore initially to establish a 350MW electrolyser manufacturing capacity in Sanand GIDC, India. With full-fledged production slated to commence in July 2026, Matrix Gas has ambitious plans to expand the plant's capacity to 3GW by 2030 through further investments. This move aligns with India's national green hydrogen mission, targeting a total green hydrogen capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum by 2030, with Gujarat being a key player with a 3 MTPA capacity. The establishment of this manufacturing plant not only signifies a significant economic investment but also contributes to the country's sustainable energy goals.
