Key Ideas
- NTPC and Honeywell UOP signed an MoU to collaborate on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production using green hydrogen in Andhra Pradesh's Green Hydrogen Hub.
- The partnership aims to leverage Honeywell UOP's expertise in SAF production and NTPC's commitment to renewable energy towards decarbonizing the aviation sector.
- The Green Hydrogen Hub, covering 1,200 acres, will focus on sustainable manufacturing and green chemicals to support India's green energy transition.
- NTPC's goal of achieving a 60 GW renewable energy portfolio by 2032 is reinforced through this collaboration, furthering sustainable energy development.
On April 25, 2025, NTPC's Executive Director (Hydrogen) and Honeywell UOP's VP & GM signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production using green hydrogen. The partnership aims to investigate the feasibility of producing SAF by recovering carbon dioxide emissions from NTPC's power plants. This initiative is a crucial step towards decarbonizing the aviation sector and supports NTPC's ambitious Green Hydrogen Hub project in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh. The collaboration combines Honeywell UOP's eFiningTM technology with NTPC's green hydrogen projects to advance sustainable energy solutions. With a focus on renewable energy and green hydrogen, NTPC is dedicated to achieving a 60 GW renewable energy portfolio by 2032. The Green Hydrogen Hub, spanning 1,200 acres, will serve as a key pillar for the production of sustainable aviation fuel and other green chemicals, aligning with India's green energy transition and sustainable manufacturing goals.
