In a significant step towards sustainable transport, NTPC Limited, GRIDCO Limited, and CRUT signed a tripartite MoU in Odisha to promote green hydrogen infrastructure. The five-year partnership aims to drive green energy technologies, focusing on green hydrogen for public transport. NTPC will set up a green hydrogen fueling station in Bhubaneswar and introduce hydrogen buses for short and long-haul routes. GRIDCO will ensure renewable energy supply, while CRUT will manage the operations of hydrogen-powered buses, targeting a transition to zero-emission public transport. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy's guidelines under the National Green Hydrogen Mission will facilitate pilot projects for green hydrogen use in transportation, supported by a Rs 19.5 crore investment from ARAI. This initiative is part of Odisha's Renewable Energy Policy 2022, aligning with NTPC's diversification strategy into renewable energy and green hydrogen technologies. The project aims to lower carbon emissions, enhance operational efficiency, and elevate the quality of bus services in the state, showcasing a positive shift towards sustainable and innovative public transportation.
